Three Most Important Dental Qualities

Three Most Important Dental Qualities

Whether you are a dentist, a hygienist, or an oral surgeon, you need to make sure your dental practice is at the top of its class. When it comes to their teeth, patients are rightly choosy. So what can you do to earn your patient’s trust and business? Beaverton Oral Surgeons finds these are the most important things you can do to make your practice stand out:

A Service You Might Be Interested In: Dental Implants

#1) Affability

“Patients don’t care about how much you know,” says Dr. Kooning, one of the doctors at Beaverton Oral Surgeons. “They want to know how much you care.”

When patients come to you, you need to remember that they are not experts, and they aren’t looking to be experts. Jargon will not connect with them, but affability will. If you fail to make a genuine connection with your patient, don’t be surprised when they look elsewhere.

Empathy and sincerity are key. They have no replacements. So try to put yourself in your patients’ shoes. You must be able to reach them, to understand their concerns and validate them. Once you connect with your patients on their level, everything else will fall into place.

#2) Availability

Another important thing to consider: each patient is different. Not only in the treatment that they need, but each patient also has their own life and schedule. Almost every clinic will keep regular business hours. But how willing are you to go the extra mile to meet your patients at their convenience?

Because each patient is an individual, you need to cater to their particular situation. Can a patient only come in earlier or later in the day? What if they need to schedule a treatment for a weekend? If you are not willing to cater to your patient’s needs, they will have to go to someone who can.

#3) Ability

Lastly, every dental practice needs to be good at its job. But a patient won’t be sure of your ability until after the treatment is complete. Without the ability to solve their issues, patients will not think well of your practice. And they won’t be likely come back or refer friends.

We all have expert training and experience, but are you providing excellence in oral care? Do you stay on top of the latest peer-reviewed research? Are you up-to-date on advancements in technology and best practices? At first, your ability will be invisible to your patients. But when they’re surprised by how easy and life-changing their treatments can be, you will know it’s because you operate at the top of your ability.

Beaverton Oral Surgeons and Our Commitment to Excellence

Why has Beaverton Oral Surgeons been a leader in dental practice for over 25 years? Because we know the importance of affability, availability, and ability, in that order.
